Ingredients:  

  • 4-6 pieces Lemons
  • 4 cups Water (cold water)
  • ½-¾ cup Sugar (granulated sugar)
  • Ice Cubes (optional, for serving)
  • Lemon Slices or Wedges (optional, for garnish)
  • Fresh Mint Leaves Fresh mint leaves (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

Prepare the Lemons: Roll the lemons on a countertop with the palm of your hand to help release the juices. Cut each lemon in half crosswise.

Juice the Lemons: Using a citrus juicer or reamer, juice the halved lemons into a bowl or measuring cup until you have approximately 1 cup (240 ml) of fresh lemon juice. Remove any seeds if necessary.

Prepare the Sweetener: In a small saucepan, combine 1/2 cup (120 ml) of water with the granulated sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and let the simple syrup cool slightly.

Mix Lemonade: In a large pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed lemon juice, cold water, and the prepared simple syrup. Stir well to combine. Taste the lemonade and adjust sweetness or tartness by adding more sugar or lemon juice if desired.

Chill: Refrigerate the lemonade for at least 1 hour to chill it thoroughly. You can also add ice cubes directly to the pitcher if you prefer your lemonade to be immediately cold.
